Portfolio for Jessica Brilli
Jessica Brilli, a coworker of mine at Radcliffe and painter of vivid imagery, asked me to create a minimalist site to display her artwork. I was responsible for both the visual design and the front end development for this site.
What I like about this site
I am quite happy with how the visual design turned out for this site. Jessica's requirements aligned very well with my strengths: sharp, angular grid design. She has received many compliments on the site from artists around the world. I feel that this site best accomplishes my goal with every site: transparent, unobtrusive design.
What I would change
While this site is more semantically rich than one using tables for layout, it still has room for improvement. Each number in the subnavigation should be its own list item, and the arrows shouldn't be included in that list. I also would have preferred to use image replacement for the name banner. Finally, the CSS should control the "You are here" highlight instead of Javascript. However, I have developed these skills in the two years since I created this site, and I can now implement them successfully.
