Innovations for Successful Societies
The ISS group produces and publishes interviews from around the world. They also create publications and policy briefs out of these interviews. I helped the ISS team create their site from scratch in the following ways:
- I started the project with content analysis. We looked at the interviews and publications that they wanted to put online, and we broke each one down into their component parts.
- Next, we defined the metadata that we would use to group the interviews and publications. These groupings were based on how strategists in the field wanted to see the information. For example, one researcher might want to see only interviews based on a focus area, and another might want to see every piece of content posted about a country of reform.
- Based on this content analysis, I built an administrative backed in Roxen coupled with a custom data model.
- Finally, after handing off the administrative backend, I created the public facing side of the site using the content analysis to inform the end user experience.
The advantage to the approach I described above is that it can be repeated successfully. I have walked through the above process multiple times with the ISS team as new website requirements emerge.
